The background artwork on tablets is still badly cropped and zoomed in when viewed in landscape, even though a local 16:9 background file exists for every title.
After spending years carefully creating and adding local metadata for nearly 2,000 movies and TV shows, this cropping is extremely disappointing. Square Backgrounds may look fine on a phone, but what about the tablets most people actually use?
I reported this in November 2025 while it was still in beta, and a Plex employee (drzoidberg33) said it had been brought to the team — yet it still isn’t fixed in the public release.
For those of us who care about how our collections look and mostly use tablets while watching, this really affects the viewing experience. It’s downright ugly.
