iPad can't stream Plex movies or shows, local content OK

Basically the issue is this, all content stored on my NAS (local network) is playable on my iPad, however any “Plex” content for TV, Movies etc. will not play. I can sometimes get the ads to play before a Plex movie starts, then it will stop when the movie or TV show begins.

All Plex movies and shows play without any issue on my Apple TV, which is on the same network. The iPad is on Wi-Fi, there’s no cellular radio on the device. Youtube and other streaming services work on the iPad without any issue.

If I start watching a Plex movie on the Apple TV it will show up on the iPad under “Continue Watching,” but won’t be playable.

The iOS app will often crash after a few attempts to get Plex content to play. The app is stable as long as I am watching content stored on the local network.

I’ve tried direct play on and off. I’ve also tried various “quality” settings without any change.

Hi, do you know when the issue started? Also, what app version are you using? To find that out open the sidebar, tap on the Settings icon and scroll to the bottom, the version will be shown there.

The next time you experience crash or movie/show stopping after playing ads, could you get the app logs and provide them here please?
