iPhone 13 PRO gets really hot and battery drains quickly

Hi!

Been using Plex pro pass with my iPhone since about 6 months. I’m updating both the server and mobile app. Even when I have downloaded one file the phone gets really hot when playing and uses about 30-40% battery in one hour if it’s a 4k hdr mkv.
Is this a known issue? My old android phone didn’t have this problem

I have the iPhone Pro as well.
There are no issues for me.

You aren’t going to get 8 hours of video out of it running the wifi and phone at 4K HDR levels. You should good 4.

I suggest you take it to apple.

Plex app uses old pre-metal API that Apple deprecated years ago. It’s very inefficient.
ATV users have similar thermal throttling and stuttering issues.

If you want,

(you didn’t hear if from me…)

The Infuse player app both integrates very well with PMS
AND
is, imho, the premier player on iOS with its use of Apple’s Metal API.

Oh I know

Thanks a lot for the input!
Will try Infuse

Just a short update in case someone with the same question as mine stumbles across this thread.

Thanks a lot for the tip. Infuse was far superior on my phone. It drew 8 % battery and the phone didn’t get hot during 1 hour 4K HDR
