I’m trying to troubleshoot why my Plex sever is not accessible outside of my network. Most likely it is because my ISP only provides external ipv6 addresses, not ipv4. I ticked the “Enable server support for IPv6” box, but http://[::1]:32400/web doesn’t work. http://localhost:32400/web/ does work.
I have other services running on this machine which I can access via [::1] and my full ipv6 address, both from within and outside of my LAN, so I think the general network configuration supports it. Is there something else I need to do with the Plex server configuration?
Hey i will have soon the same problem, i will switch provider and only have external v6 Adress. Have you tried to restart the Plex Server after saving the Setting?
How do you plan to reach Plex from v4 only Network? (I still have no good solution, may you have?)
I’m running a few different severs on this machine. Some work on IPv6, Plex and others don’t. So I talked my ISP into giving me an IPv4 address, and now everything works great.
I suspect Plex is relying on some lower-level library to handle the networking, and they’ll need to wait on that to get updated. It may also be a platform-specific issue. I’m on Mac, but maybe IPv6 works fine on Windows or Linux.
Plex does not currently support remote access over IPv6. If you want IPv6 remote access you can vote for it by clicking on the Vote button at the top of the page here: Ipv6 support for myplex
