Filebot is not free?

Not on windows or Mac.

No one else can tell you the worth. If you are doing bulk renaming, it may well be worthwhile. For one offs, no, I would just manually do it. Other products CAN do it for free and are fairly accurate, again, if you are not renaming hundreds or thousands of files.

Wow, I didn’t know that.
Try http://tvrenamer.org/
Don’t know how good it is but it’s free… I guess.

But more on your question. Like @drinehart said… One off’s, no. But if you plan on renaming hundreds/thousands now or in the near future then it probably wouldn’t hurt.
I assuming you can download FileBot and use for free as some type of demo. That should give you a feel if you like it or not.

@NewPlaza - Not really. It is distributed in the app stores now. It is still free for linux users, though, and if you can find an older version you can use it perpetually but will get prompted each time if you want to upgrade. If I had not already used other products in the past, I would definitely buy Filebot. But my needs are so little these days, I either use the downloader to rename or I manually rename things on my own. Filebot is a very nice product and would have been very useful had I known about it when I needed it most :).

Personally I like FileBot a LOT more than tvrenamer but it could be because I used FileBot first and found that attempting to retrain myself into the differences to use tvrenamer as well was difficult for me and ultimately not worth the effort.

I donated to FileBot before FileBot started nagging more and more for use and I continue to support them. I really feel like “paying” for FileBot is a lot like getting my Plex Pass. It is simply a good idea to support people who produce software that I like and use.

For me FileBot is well worth the small price and I do not regret at all paying for it.

4.7.9 is free.

Last time I checked I couldn’t download 4.7.9 - Went to update and it only offered it on the Windows Store (I’m running Win10).

I used the free version extensively so I had no issues in buying the Windows store app. Plus it updates automatically so I don’t have to worry about that either.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/filebot/files/filebot/FileBot_4.7.9/

FileBot_4.7.9_x86.msi is the windows installer package - would need to install java separately.

Filebot is a great program, I used to use thetvrenamer and switched to filebot awhile ago. It used to be free but now it constantly nags you about being out of date and directs you to the all store to buy it. It’s $19.99 - I feel it used to be $9.99 back when you could still download it outside of the store for free but I could be mistaken.

Either way, it’s a great app! I have issues with scaling within the program on a high resolution monitor, I’m wondering if the app store version would fix that…I’ll probably try it out this weekend.

Not worth the money IMO. It’s a very basic software and there are plenty of free alternatives.
