Hi,
Sorry for my english, i’m french
Looks like we have to pay for Filebot now to update it, is that right?
It is quite possible. There have been nag screens for some time. I donated last year and I will, next month, donate again. Good software should be supported and FileBot is defiantly good software.
Yes you now must pay - or clicking ignore on the nag screen still works.
I am happy to pay for software I use but do not like the subscription model.
I have a lifetime plex pass
Yes. If you’re using macOS / Windows 10, then you’ll have to purchase FileBot on the Mac App Store / Windows Store.
Users that have donated in the past, can get a free promotional code:

I use Ant Renamer. It’s old and probably doesn’t receive any more updates but it’s free.

I had a look at Ant renamer and it is upto date. (2017 version)
Tried for 15 mins to change file names like filebot and gave up. Will revisit and try again - later
OMG I HATE the windows store filebot app. You can still use filebot normally as long as you can find the .exe file online. I also had to download java or I would get an error when re-naming. Here’s where I just downloaded the regular .exe file for windows.
hi, i’ve checked the price and it’s 20 euros! really expensive!
do you guys know another software that does the same job please?

Would help if you gave the OS you’re using.

I tried that link and it only has msi for ever version. I have the free still one still on my pc, just not the installer. I am almost complete with a new build and will not add money to the windows 10 app store. I never have.

Try SourceForge, you can get 4.7.9 (4.7.10 is latest, 4.7.9 is last version on SourceForge before this crap happened and the project owner moved the project to GitHub).
As far as it being an MSI package, you realize that is still an installer package and how most drivers are delivered, right? You should have zero issues using an MSI package to install the software unless you for some strange reason have disabled the Windows Installer services… But then most setup.exe based programs contain numerous .msi packages to perform their installs sooo. Good luck?
Oh, sorry guess I had not tried. Yes, I always think of MSI as Microsoft so I figured they all sent you to the store. Should have checked beforehand.
I donated in the past, then bought FileBot from the Windows store. After Plex and DVDFab (both lifetime), FileBot is definitely the best purchase I ever made. Don’t be cheap, support great developers
Windows 10 version on sale for $9.99.
Also no mention what you get for $9.99?
I thought before is was a subscription and I hate subscriptions.
Anyway it doesn’t matter as payment didn’t work anyway!!
Any purchase on the Windows Store will give you a lifetime license for that purchase, same as any other Store (Google, Apple, etc) you may be familiar with.

Don’t forget that a so-called ‘lifetime’ licence is nothing of the sort. It’s certainly not your lifetime. it’s just a licence until the developer drops support for that app & replaces it with a redesigned app with the same functionality but gives the app a different name so you will have to pay for the new app despite having a lifetime licence to the old app. The new app may even be inferior to the original app e.g. TomTom on iPhone being replaced by TomTom Go.
Well, any reasonable definition of “you only have to purchase it once” is fine. I have a “lifetime” license for Plex but I don’t expect it to mean much 20-30 years down the line.
Sorry you got burned with other software made by other people on other platforms, but FileBot is not a money making operation, and it’s reasonably priced, so it’s sustainable as it is.
Obvious caveats apply: If I die, then no more updates and no more support from me, cause I’ll be dead.

What?!
Unacceptable!
I have made arrangements with my Dentist to care for my tooth after I depart this mortal coil.
I expect you to make the necessary adjustments.

I tried to buy but as I said the buying setup was not working. Will try again
Am I to assume the version I buy is for that PC only?
Or can I use it on 2 PC or can I reinstall after a total reinstall?
I believe the Window’s Store behaves much like Google Play in that a purchase made on it under your user name works for any computer logged in under your user name.
Also if you need to install again after purchase you just login to the store and download it. You will not be asked for payment again. That actually happened to be as I needed to revert my computer all the way back to before I installed the Windows version and I was never asked for payment and I have no payment method stored.
