My server has now begun generating End Credit data, which i was hoping to (eventually) use with Web Hooks to control lighting, however i have zero desire to ever actually skip the credits, because i’m an adult with an attention span and I appreciate the unwinding experience that outro credits often bring to a piece of media.
Today i noticed that when playing back any media that has had Credit Detection run on it already, my nVidia Shield instantly kicks me out to the post-play screen the moment credits begin, which is something i never, ever want to happen.
Is it possible to keep generating this data for the (hopefully) future use of WebHook usage, without actually skipping anything?
If you don’t want it ever why have it enabled at all? You can wait til they are all done and disable for library. They won’t be deleted but will also not do skip behavior. There is not separete options at this time but heard they will come in the future.
There is a fix in 9.17 to Android TV client which is in beta to let you go back to full screen when it minimizes.
The hope was that Web Hooks would eventually show up tied to credit markers to help with some home automation (ie: when the credits start the lights come on dim in my home theater, and then come on full bright after the movie is over, just like some real movie theaters do), without actually affecting the playback of a piece of media.
The data is still even useful without affecting playback, because it allows for more accurate “Watched” status, which is why I hope we can eventually be given control over what that data is actually used for.
As it is now it looks like I’ll just have to disable it.
why are these things pushed onto the customer with no option to turn off.
Its the main reason I don’t use netflix the lack of options and the fact that credits are interupted with a screen of thumbnails instead.
Is there someone in a design meeting who said “credits are boring and if we minimise them then we can fill the screen with thumbnails and then user will click a thumbnail and we’ll get 0000000.2 cents”
“wont that annoy people if they can’t turn it off”
“000000.2 cents”
I’ve done that and credit skip is still appearing, sometimes it appears well before the credits.
… ah yes that option only works before plex automatically started analysing files. Let me guess “you’ll need a reset plex completely to get what you want”… $100 that is the way.
My point then still stands… Why not introduce a feature like this and have an option to turn it off on client from the start? again, just annoying people and contributing to people losing faith in this product.
All skip behavior including buttons will be disabled. We are going to be adding client controls in the future so each person who has access to server can change as they want in the client they use but I don’t have an ETA on that.
Doesn’t look like disabling it for the library stops the button appearing, so that’s a bug. Guessing that adding the client control is something that is in the pipeline but won’t get addresses anytime soon as its not social media and streaming related.
