Is it possible to just go directly to my music?

On my iPhone, I only use Plex to play music. I want to start the app and have it just show my music library. I don’t want any of the home screen stuff about recently added things and movies that I’ll never need on my phone. I have to click the menu icon, then select music, then click the library button on bottom middle. Seems like a lot to just see my music. Is there any way to just make the app start there?

afaik you can edit the home screen per device. from Home > Edit Home Screen, you’ll see 2 options, “Continue with Automatic” and “Disable (Manually Manage)”. Choose “Disable (Manually Manage)”, then start sorting and enabling/disabling.

I prefer plexamp for mobile which is intended for music (though the app feels like in alpha-release).

You may want to give PlexAmp a shot:

It’s a Plex app dedicated to music. It’s in the app store…

Thanks for the responses. I’ve seen the “Edit Home Screen” but it can’t do what I want. I want to bypass the home screen entirely and just go to the music library screen.

As for PlexAmp, I’ll check it out. Is that from Plex or a 3rd party? It says the seller is “Plex Labs, Inc.” while the Plex app itself says the seller is “Plex, inc.” Then PlexAmp says its copyright is “Plex, inc” so it seems like this is in fact from plex but maybe Plex Labs is part of them?

It’s from Plex. Plex Labs is kind of their skunkworks playground.

Awesome, thanks. Yeah, my first impression is that it is a nice app but I’m not sure it solves my issue. On first start, I have to tap the little music note button at the bottom and then “Artists,” which is just two taps to get where I want - certainly better than before in the “main” app and way less extraneous non-music stuff. Definite improvement.

But then I played music and closed out of the app. When I re-run, it has the artist I was last listening to up full screen. I have to hit a button to dismiss that, then the same two taps to get back to “Artists.” So now I’m up to 3 taps to get where I want to go on startup.

They still have the home screen with “recent plays,” “recently added music,” “recent playlists,” and “radio stations.” None of these do I particularly want to see and I see no way yet to edit. I just want it to go directly to the artists page. I understand some people like those things - I just wish there was a way to bypass them for those who don’t.

I still like this more than the main app since at least the stuff is all music-related and it has great potential. Maybe there’s a way to submit requests and maybe since this is so new they might be able to get it in…

Thanks again for letting me know about it!

Maybe Prism would work better for you?

Not made by Plex…but purely music.

Thanks for letting me know about Prism. My initial impression was excellent - it does exactly what I want, and by default no less. I just open the app and there’s my list of artists. No matter what I was doing when I closed, I open it and there are my artists. Perfect!

One downside though. I have a bunch of Chromecast audio devices in my house and it doesn’t seem to recognize them. I tap the little button with the triangle on the bottom and concentric circles and a volume slider with a what looks like a place for a list of external streaming targets appears but only “iPhone” is listed and checked. Is that supposed to show smart speakers, etc.? Are Chromecast audio devices supported and any configuration needed to get it working?
