Is it possible to play videos in the pictures section?

I have a few photo albums(folders) that contain both photos and videos from various events. When Plex accesses those folders, the videos are not playing, only the pictures.

Is there a way to have the videos play in the photos section, or is it a hard line for photos and not videos?

Since 1.1.0 video should be supported, which version are you using?

I’m running version 2.7.10. Is there a setting I need to enable or only a certain video format supported when there are videos in the photos section? When I go to the Photos library, and select an album that has photos and videos, the videos don’t even show up. Just the photos.

That is the web player. Switch over to the Server tab to see the server version. You need to update the photo library after upgrading to at least 1.1.0 for the videos to show up. Any video that PMS normally recognizes can be used.

That’s the Web version number, click the “Server” tab to the right of “Web” and you should see which version you’re using.

The exact specifications of this function is a bit unclear, for me at least, and since I’m not using it I haven’t explored it further. I would assume that it should show up regardless, as long as the file format as such is supported. Since it’s a new function I can’t find a help article, yet. I’m sure it will published soon enough.

Have you tried just for testing purpose that is, to create a new photo library? Not saying you should delete/touch your current, just try creating another new photo library where you have a few pics and a video file stored in a new folder.

edit: I was too late in my reply, follow Moviefans suggestion, he knows this stuff better than I.

Thanks guys, I am running Server Version 1.0.3.2461, and I noticed something I didn’t know about…down at the bottom, the Update Channel, I had Public selected and not Plex Pass. I won’t be able to finish this until I get home from work, but at least I know what the issue is.

Thanks again for the help. Plex is proving to be the best decision I’ve made for my digital content.

Check occasionally… I have had it default back to public after an upgrade on occasions. :slight_smile:

Plexpass server update seems to have resolved it, but I also needed to reset my mobile device uploads.
