Plex will only look for IMDb IDs in .nfo files to support matching items. It won’t actually read metadata from that file.
There’s some 3rd party agent which can work on its own or in combination with some of the legacy Plex agents.
thanks. so there is no way to add a film or tv show that don’t exist in an official database ? like an old french dvd that no one knows. or a tv show compilation that don’t exists officially ?
You can obviously add it but you’ll have to edit their metadata manually.
Alternatively you can always create those records on The Movie Database or TheTVDb
yes I did this for usefull stuff but sometime it is such an crappy file that is a “manual” compilation.
For films, I see that the agent is clever, if nothing is found, it displa the first image of the film and extract date and title of film from the filename : great !
=> But sometimes, agent WANT to match a record even if there is not.
for instance : animaux sauvage (2006) => want to be matched by plex with "kirikou et les bêtes sauvages (2003). I don’t know why.
is there a way to tell plex not to look in database (and does a wrong match).
I tryied to correct directly in plex but only title and date are corrected. I still have the image of kirikou.
If you don’t want Plex to match those videos/clips at all, best use an “other video” type library.
