Is it possible to force Plex to use link in NFO for metadata

Server Version#: 1.30.1.6550

I have all my movies in a separate folder. My dream scenario is that for each movie I want to have an NFO file which contain a link to either IMDB og TMDB (different source from movie to movie) and then I want plex to use that link and then simply match the movie with that source and fetch the metadata from that source. Is this possible?
Also still have preference to local posters.

For me this would just be a very nice and easy way to have control over which movie the agent matches matches it to, but can’t get Plex to use the URL. Does anyone know how to do this or is it not even possible?

Using the IMDB link in an NFO file works 100% for matching purposes, but you can’t force Plex to get metadata from one particular source.

How about TMDB links? Can’t seem to get them to work.

Inside of nfo files, Plex will only read IMDb IDs. It has done that for years already. It is legacy code.

The new Plex agents do support IMDb, TMDB, and TVDB IDs in file and/or folder names.

I have TMDB link in all the NFO files for the movies I’m referring to but doesn’t seem that the Plex Movie agent is reading the link.

As I wrote above.
