Is it possible to watch video with sound ? :(

I was astonished to see how simple it was to install rasplex and how it works well.
Excepting that … No sound with Video !!!
I have a system with a video projector, a dac and amplifier / loudspeaker
Music works really well with ont any question about the settings, but it seems impossible to use the same audio speaker to watch Video ???
So do I understand that we can’t use a videoprojector or that we are stucked with the bad internal loudspeakers of a tv ?
Isn’t there a way to use the same audio out ??? … I mean the good one ?

What kind of audio included in the video which you want to play with Plex? The following audio formats are currently supported for music playback:
MP3
M4A

no it’s not a format problem, all my videos are perfectly decoded on my mac …
the problem is with the audio out of Rasplex. Is it possible to set the audio out to an audio card (USB) instead of an HDMI (and no, not the audio jack of the raspberry, please :slight_smile:
knowing that this USB audio card is perfectly recognized by the raspberry and works with the music section of rasplex

RasPlex currently only supports audio over HDMI/Line-out when playing video.

Is this a temporary limitation ?
this seems so weird if you compare with the accomplishment of the whole Rasplex

RasPlex is PHT tweaked to be more optimized and work better on Raspberry Pi and contains lots of Raspberry Pi specific code backported from newer Kodi versions.

In newer Kodi version there are two video players optimized for the Raspberry Pi, OMXPlayer and MMALPlayer, in RasPlex we only have OMXPlayer due to the legacy Frodo code base from PHT.
MMALPlayer is the player that support ALSA and can play audio on other sound cards then the built in.
Due to the amount of work required to backport MMALPlayer it was not prioritized for 0.7.x.

Next major RasPlex version will probably upgrade to Helix or Isengard and that will bring lots of enhancements to RasPlex.

so i’m waiting for this new version …
and found a solution with a cable between the video-projector and my amplifier and switch manually …
not esthetically pleasant neither the best audio solution … neither practical, but at least I have sound with the video
