cant see it getting modern emulators. It struggles with N64 architecture lol. We should happily get things like PS1, Sega CD, Saturn etc
Im glad to hear there has been some movement on this. Very excited to see some disc based platforms are in the works.
Out of interest, in an effort to push away from the parsec integration and make arcade part of the general plex package, is it worth reaching out for a collaboration with retroarcher ? https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroArcher/
retroarcher doesnt work the same as using Parsec. Retroarcher uses plex to launch videoclips and then request the game to be loaded using RetroArch on whichever platform is requesting it. Plex actually renders the game into video and controls feed and streams it to the Plex App remotely so you are actually playing the game using plex app not a 3rd party emulation app. With retroArcher all plex is doing is showing a bunch of video clips that have been created by RetroArcher, the actual emulation is handled outside of Plex by RetroArch meaning each device will require RetroArch to be installed. Plexās method is by far the simpler solution in terms of end user experience
Iām also waiting to see if ps1 gets support. Iād love to Play Legend of Dragoon on it.
@elan any news/updates on this? Not seen any development announcements on Plex Arcade in a while.
Yeah, Iād love to know where things are at with new Plex Arcade features and updates! My subscription lapsed a few months back, Iāve been waiting for a good opportunity to check it out again.
Providing a courtesy bump to the thread since I share other peopleās interest in adding PS1, PS2, etc. games to the pool.
Any update on progress from the Plex gods?
Itās on pause for the moment, but only because some of the work ended up being more complicated than we anticipated and so we had to switch our focus to other stuff for a bit.
Take your time bud, game streaming is a whole other level of difficulty than video streaming and we understand that.
Itās just too bad that we didnāt get Linux support before the break
Is there anything new in the works for Plex Arcade, aside from new cores? Itās been so quiet for months now, would be nice to get a quick update on where things are at.
