Is Plex limiting the number of characters of a folder or a file when doing the sonic analysis?

I know it may sound a weird one, be i am under the impression that when a Sonic Analysis get stuck on an album it is nearly always when the name of the album or the song is pretty long like this exemple :

Like this file name:
03. Daniel Hope - Romeo and Juliet, Op. 64 _ Prokofiev_ Romeo and Juliet, Op. 64 - Dance Of The Knights (Transcr. for Solo Violin and Chamber Orchestra).flac

or this folder name:
Music to listen to~dance to~blaze to~pray to~feed to~sleep to~talk to~grind to~trip to~breathe to~help to~hurt to~scroll to~roll t (2019)\

Is it possible ? or I am in bad luck with those long titles files ?

Here are the logs when the sonic analysis got stuck :
Plex Media Server Logs_2024-02-04_09-07-31.zip (5.7 MB)

It’s unlikely  The path used is:

\\Desktop-bqi4srf\PlexMusic0\- MUSIC\Academy of St Martin in the Fields\Academy of St Martin in the Fields - Mozart Orchestral Works (2024)\55. Academy of St Martin in the Fields - Ballet Intermezzo, K.299c (Sketches compl. & orch. E. Smith) _ Mozart_ Ballet Intermezzo, K.299c (Sketches compl. & orch. E. Smith) - 8. Tambourin.flac```

You can try running it from terminal:

set “FFMPEG_EXTERNAL_LIBS=\\?\C:\Users\Utilisateur\AppData\Local\Plex\ Media\ Server\Codecs\1d5bf5d-4660-windows-x86_64\” & “C:\Program Files\Plex\Plex Media Server\Plex Transcoder.exe” -i “\Desktop-bqi4srf\PlexMusic0- MUSIC\Academy of St Martin in the Fields\Academy of St Martin in the Fields - Mozart Orchestral Works (2024)\55. Academy of St Martin in the Fields - Ballet Intermezzo, K.299c (Sketches compl. & orch. E. Smith) _ Mozart_ Ballet Intermezzo, K.299c (Sketches compl. & orch. E. Smith) - 8. Tambourin.flac” -ac 1 -ar 16000 -acodec pcm_s16le track-0054.wav

An experiment:
remove the “artist” from the album folder title, i.e. instead of

/Academy of St Martin in the Fields - Mozart Orchestral Works (2024)

name it just

/Mozart Orchestral Works (2024)

Simply because it is already sitting inside of a suitably named “artist” folder.

Then remove the duplication from the track file names as well:
from

55. Academy of St Martin in the Fields - Ballet Intermezzo, K.299c (Sketches compl. & orch. E. Smith) _ Mozart_ Ballet Intermezzo, K.299c (Sketches compl. & orch. E. Smith) - 8. Tambourin.flac

to

55. Academy of St Martin in the Fields - _ Mozart_ Ballet Intermezzo, K.299c (Sketches compl. & orch. E. Smith) - 8. Tambourin.flac

This would bring the length of the file’s path name to under 255 characters.
See if anything changes after this.

Thank you for your help.
Here is what I get:

Thank you very much, I changed it as you mentioned and it worked, the album was analysed with success.

I noticed few times before that tracks with long name are causing sonic analysing issue. I sadly deleted those albums because I didn’t know where to look.
So it seems there is a pattern here. Are you aware of any limitations like this that could cause this problem?
Do you think that numbers of characters could be change so it will work?

Thank you for confirming my suspicion!
This issue smells like a bug in the server.

Until it is fixed, there is nothing you can do about it, except keeping the path length under 255 characters.
(Which, I know, is challenging when dealing with classical music. Just think about using embedded meta tags for the finer details, instead of stuffing everything into folder and file names.)

I’ll have look when it happens next time. Yes, it was mainly with classical albums.

I hope this bug can be fixed!

Thank you again
