Is the latest version using more CPU???

Is it just me? Ever since upgrading to the latest version, I’ve been getting lots of buffering timeouts when playing movies and TV shows. Sometimes, just transcoding a single movie at a time seems to be too much.

I haven’t had this problem in the past… And I can confirm with speed tests it is not my network speed. I find if I restart the plex server I can play a show or two before it becomes a problem again. But once it does, the only consistent solution I’ve found is to restart again. Even then I had to reboot the laptop (server) one time because even a kill -9 on the processes did not work.

I would love to blame the intel updates for this now problem, but I haven’t installed them… But I suppose I could always be seeing a new problem on my laptop unrelated to the update.

Almost the same for me
(Linux 4.15)

I am having the same types of issues on my Synology DS718+ server running the latest DSM (Linux 4.4.15+) and the latest PMS 1.11.3.4803. Since this update I am having very long buffering times (1min +), where before things would load in just a couple seconds when trying to playback a 1080p MP4 movie or TV show. On LAN it seems to load fine still, but outside the network it is unusable. I tried blowing my server metadata, preferences, etc. away and starting from scratch. This did not resolve the issue. I am also having the same problem on my PC PMS install. It does not seem to be CPU related, although at times it will say that the server is not powerful enough… but when it says that and I check my server is only using 1 or 2% of the CPU. I can PM logs to a Plex Ninja, if they want to hit me up. This issue seems to have started in the last 1-2 PMS beta updates.

I am also still having issues playing .SRT files on Android… but that is a whole other story. :’(
