Hi,
I recently came back to a windows based plex server DVR from a BSD based NAS install of a different DVR to remain unnamed.
I noticed that live TV as well as pause/ff/rew is available on my iphone and ipads. I have a generic chinese AndroidTV called MBOX H97+ pro, not a shield and LG WebOS smart tv. Which of course don’t support the Live TV or EPG functions from my server.
Are there any plans to support non NVIDIA shields AndroidTVs to allow us to get Live TV or EPG support?
Or even AppleTV ?
I am using the plex DVR to record local stations. I am considering OTT service for the cable portion.
It seems the two leading OTT I am considering work on both AppleTV and generic AndroidTV platform.
My goal is for one device /one remote to watch and record locals and watch and record OTT.
If either AppleTV or generic Android TV would support this I would be greatly appreciative.
If you review the FAQ pages on DVR/Live TV, you will see that Android TV and iOS (not Apple TV) are the only clients that support Live TV at this time. You will also find the minimum server requirements for it to work.
There are a ton of threads about this, so you could look around a bit and review them for more information. Plex does not give out ETAs on any upcoming plans, so don’t expect any response on when or what.

Yes we do. When - when it’s ready. What - on compatible devices.
But seriously, we are working to bring Live TV to many of our clients. Live TV is already available on actual Android TV devices. Some Android boxes are not Android TV, they are just TV boxes running Android, which is not the same.
