long time plex pass holder , been testing DVR for some time now , am running version 1.5.6.3790 but do not have option for live tv only record , apps on the IOS and android are the latest ones and does not work in there , and since the latest update i do not have DVR option on my samsung tv now ,
any help would be great
As noted many times in this sub forum, you need to be on PMS version 1.7.2.
well this different to what the FAQ say
The beta DVR functionality is currently available when running Plex Media Server v1.4.1 or newer.
so might want to update this ,
as im running the latest version
DVR is different than Live TV. Live TV was added to 1.7.2.
Are you running 1.7.2? That is what is needed, as noted many times in this sub forum.

The FAQ states 1.7.2 is required for Live TV.

I’ve been looking for the live TV, or Watch now option, since the announcement. Just re-watched the quick tips video below and caught the line that you “can only watch live TV through Plex on an Android TV or iOS device”.

If you review the various threads and the FAQ you’ll see that Live TV will be added to other clients.
I got the HDHomeRun Connect this week and have it hooked up to my network along with my NVIDIA Shield. I can see the live OTA channels in Plex and the various other AndroidTV apps that have access to the channels from the HDHomeRun, but did’t realize that I couldn’t watch live channels on any other devices other than AndroidTV or iOS, I guess I should have paid better attention to the setup guide and FAQ. I did learn yesterday however that I can access the live channels from the HDHomeRun device over my local network using the VLC app on my Chromebook and of course I can access them on my Android phone using the HDHomeRun app. I wonder what the ETA is for Plex to add support for watching Live TV on both the web app and the Android Phone devices both on the local network and via remote access.
Plex doesn’t announce timeframes on new features. There was lots of speculation prior to Live TV being released but no one knew when it would launch until the day it was announced.
Install the HDHR channel. It works in all clients where as the live tv feature doesn’t even work in the clients it’s suppose too!
I am pretty new to plex but do have a plexpass. What I would like to know is can the live tv and dvr be used on the fire tv or fire stick. With the app of coarse. I have the plex server set up on a windows PC with live channels and dvr showing on screen but from what i have been researching you cannot use the live tv or dvr function on the plex app or on windows. Can anyone clarify this for me. What do i need to do just suck up the fee i paid plex for the pass membership and pay hdhomerun their fee since i can stream from my connect to fire tv. Any help would be great

The DVR is setup on your server. Not on the apps. Once something is recorded, you can watch it like you can any other recording on your apps.
Live TV was also recently released in the previous 1.7.2 release and only available on Android TV and iOS but will be coming to other platforms. Plex does not announce timeframes for future releases.
I Understand what you say about live tv but can someone explain what an android tv is is a android box like the MIbox os a special tv.I have the mibox with the android app installed but no live. In other words what do i need to stream live tv from my plex server to my television sets
The mibox website says it is an Android TV device so I would assume as long as your Plex Media Server is a minimum of 1.7.2 you should be able to view Plex Live TV. Don’t see where you ever specified what version of Plex Media Server you are running. You must also have a supported tuner configured in Plex DVR.
I am using version 1.7.3.3937 the dvr works fine just trying to figure what i can stream live tv to
Have you reviewed this page: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/115007689648-Watching-Live-TV to see if it answers your question. Don’t have a mibox so can’t determine whether it should work or not since I can’t test it.
If that box downloads the mobile version (not actually identifying as an Android TV) then Live TV won’t work.
When will 1.7 version be available for Mac? Under downloads only 1.5 version will download.
