One thing I have noticed is that plex filtering uses pretty simple “Or” logic instead of “And” logic. This means that when I combine two genres, like “Action” and “Sci-Fi” I end up getting the sum result of the query with movies that are “Action” or “Sci-fi”. This expands my filter, instead of narrowing it. In clearer terms, I get all movies that are either “Action or Sci-fi” instead of the narrow list of “Action and Sci-fi”
Because a feature request needs mad traction before it’s made visible; I wanted to know if there is an already rising request for this, so I can +1 that, instead of submitting my own.
Yes, boolean NOT and AND have already been requested (several times, actually).
Yes, a simple search of the Feature Request Voting forum will find them.
Keep in mind, “+1” posts don’t constitute voting.

Huh, I just got the email indicating I had unanswered questions, must have missed your posts.
I realize that there are a number of requests for that feature now. Is there one specifically that has the most traction? I went through and “Liked” (constituting a vote, based on the rules of the forum) every one that I could find; but if there’s a most liked version of that request, I would like to vote for it.
The new web interface has pretty complete filtering including a NOT and other logical operators. Of course that does not extend to any of the players where it is really needed so, for now, you need to apply the filters in the web and the incorporate the results into a genre or collection.
That means that to properly use filtering on the clients you must have well functioning precognition so you know ahead of time what you will want to browse through to find something to watch.
But, maybe, precognition is not too much to ask of Plex users. After that it is just a short, but important, step up to omnipotence and omniscience and we users can be just like the Plex deities.
It really does, this is awesome. I just updated like 10 minutes ago. Thanks Elijah!
