Is there a place to adjust the audio playback capabilities in Plex?

Hello,

I’m new to plex so I may have it set up wrong. I have a media server and I THINK (not sure) I have it set so there are no limits for speed. I have a player using the MP app, connected via gigabit ethernet. The player is hooked via HDMI to my TV (4K rated cable that works with my oppo so I know the cable isn’t the issue). When I play back videos everything shows up as multichannel on my preamp. When I stream the same media from my oppo it will say DTS-X, Dolby etc. Is there a place to enable that in plex?

What is that?

How is the preamp connected to the player?

Sorry I have a PC running WIndows 10 and the Plex Media Player App connected via HDMI directly to my preamp (it streams from another PC running the plex server). THe preamp is connected to my TV.

For the actual “Plex Media Player”, see https://support.plex.tv/articles/212072167-audio-configuration-guide-plex-media-player/
(Settings only visible in TV mode of PMP)

For the “Plex for Windows Player” app, go to Settings - Plex - Player
and select your HDMI output port and set the “Audio Device Kind” to “HDMI”.
Then activate the checkboxes of these audio formats which your AVR/preamp can decode on its own.

Don’t use the web app if you want surround sound.
