Is there a way of deinterlacing/decombing recorded TV

I use a gen2 FireTV for playback, a lot of channels (UK Freeview) are interlaced, the most annoying one is Formula 1 on Channel 4, the interlacing [jaggy edges] is really noticeable because of the high speed camera panning etc
I use an HDHomeRun (which can’t deinterlace by itself) - I’ve looked at the recorded file in Plex and it’s marked as 1080p .
Should Plex player be able to deinterlace? (Specifically on FireTV)? If so, how would I go about getting Plex to correctly label the files as 1080i ?

Essentially, TL:DR - can I get Plex to decomb/deinterlace recorded DVR files?
Thanks.
