So I have Dead or Alive - Sophisticated boom box mmxivi (the definitive album anthology), this is 17 CDs packed with all the songs and remixes they had. Anyhow the problem is when I try to add disc 3 it mixes it with disc 1. When I search it shows the Sophisticated boom box mmxivi as having 2 discs not 17 yet when I check google it shows 17 discs, so does Amazon, and all other outlets that sell it. Is there anyway to tell Plex to not use the lookup information with this album or group for that matter?
Just to clarify. I have my drive like this. c:\plex\music\dead or alive c:\plex\music\dead or alive\Sophisticated Boom Box MMXIVI then from this folder (above) I have Disc 1, Disc 2, etc. They show up initially in Plex as separate CDs, when I merge 1 and 2 together it works. When I merge 3 I get 1 and 3 under disc 1 so its has song 1. then 1., and 2. then 2. etc.
I have done the first one. the problem still persists.

As soon as I update the album name to correct name both Disc 1 and Disc 3 merge together as 1 disc. The same thing happens if I leave the name alone, and merge Disc 1 and Disc 3 together using Plex. The issue is I need to disable the “match” for this artist if that’s possible because the album is not show up correctly, it thinks the album in question only has 2 discs while it sells with 17 discs.
Sorry the numbers and the tracks above don’t show up correctly, they look fine in my edited post but are correct, each tracktitle is numbered correctly on my plex.
I have even edited the file with WinAmp to mark each track under reach disc as disc # 1, etc., depending on which disc it resides in.
Put ‘Local Media Assets’ into top position under
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - last.fm
and
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - Plex Premium Music
Then edit your library,
go to the ‘Advanced’ tab
and put a check mark into ‘Use embedded meta tags’
Check the embedded meta tags in your files.
All files must have:
‘Album Artist’ = ‘Dead or Alive’
‘Album Title’ = ‘Sophisticated’
there must be no other info in the ‘Album Title’ meta tag!
‘Disc number’ belongs into its own dedicated tag.
After making sure of the above, perform the Plex Dance
(with music, step 4 can be omitted)
That is correct. I also noticed the services that are used to identify the music are showing CD’s from the 1980’s but not the new 2016 box set CD. It would be nice to have a choice per album if I want it to use the services or simply have it ignore it. It certainly doesn’t care about all the settings you gave me to do, it continues to follow the services findings.
