Is there a way to export song playcounts and last played date?

I would like to export my music metadata (all music tags plus playcounts and last played date) to a flatfile, spreadsheet, etc. Is there a way to do that?

Unfortunately not.
Although you can export quite a few things using WebTools NG, but the play count is not among them.

If you have Tautulli installed you can export the Database and use DB Browser for SQLite to export History etc.

Wow, with that and the dynamic playlist filters, I just might have the final piece to abandon iTunes. I will for sure install those and try it out.

I haven’t really looked at the music functionality in Plex in a few years but it seems like now I can duplicate what I was doing with Smart playlists in iTunes - which drives about 90% of my listening habits. I like cycling through my entire collection based on last played date so I have several playlists built on that plus genre, ratings, etc. I then have others based on playcount. And finally, as a data nerd, monthly I export my entire song list into excel and create some pivot tables based on playcounts to show things like top artists, albums, songs, etc, based on the years of listening history I have in there (similar to what you can do with last.fm scrobbling). If I can get access to the song list and playcounts in the Plex db I’d be able to do the same thing. And since it’s in a db I might not even have to export it.

Ok, so looking at Tautulli - you’re referring to accessing Tautulli’s database that has been monitoring your activities? Not the Plex metadata itself? If so, I’m much less thrilled about that. Or is Tautulli replicating the playcounts from the Plex database so it’s a distinction without a difference?

[edit] After completing the install I see that no, it isn’t looking directly at the Plex metadata at all, it is just monitoring Plex and generating its own. Not quite was I was looking for.

Darn, that tool’s export functionality looks like it comes close, but yes it doesn’t appear to include the field ‘view count’ for audio tracks, which I assume is the play counts.

Tautulli keeps its own database for history, but it has a feature to export data from Plex.
