Is there a way to scan a single tv show instead of the whole Tv Shows library?

As I said in the title, since often I add a single episode, I would like to scan only that Tv show instead of doing a “Scan library files”… Scannning the whole library is really time consuming when you have thousands of files…

With that said. It doesn’t have to take that long. I have close to 10 000 items in my TV Show folder and after I push Scan in Plex it takes me mere seconds before a new item shows up. But I do have a fairly decent hardware setup and I do not know yours. Regardless, I would check that your database is OK and that you do not have umatched items that mucks things up.

Peter – how can you identify and fix or ignore unmatched items?

@lancegspencer - I’d suggest you start with this tool Home · ukdtom/WebTools.bundle Wiki · GitHub

FindMedia. Makes it possible to locate medias, that’s either missing from the database or from the filesystem

To Ignore files you can check this help article - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201375253-Excluding-New-Content-with-plexignore

This is a good place to read up on (it is linked in the WebTools user manual too) - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/categories/200028098-Media-Preparation

And as always, I usually instruct users to scrub all their files in Filebot first, before presenting them to Plex - https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/191687/plex-naming-schemes-for-filebot/p1

If you have already got an incorrect match on an item (due to bad filename), you might have to do the Plex Dance on it - https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/277433/the-plex-dance

I’m with @Peter_W on the time. I have over 5000 episodes and a new episode shows up very quickly and the whole thing (recognizing, matching, downloading meta data) takes about 45 seconds. Mine may take a bit longer because the episodes are spread over 3 NAS units.
If yours is really time consuming you may have something else going on.

In the end I did the “Plex dance” with my Tv shows and now the scan is a lot faster!
