I mean, how can a piece of software change some basic data as a default setting with no readily apparently way to stop it. Example, An officer and a gentleman is a movie title not officer and a gentleman.
edit ArticleStrings in your advanced settings file. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201105343-Advanced-Hidden-Server-Settings.
it will only affect newly added things. for things already in your library just edit the sort title in metadata and save it

Thank you BigWheel, it’s a shame a simple preference like this can’t be added in an easy to access interface somewhere.

It is extremely easy to access lol… That is part of my normal routine I check/do with absolutely every new title I put into my library! Mainly when I add multiples of the same titles! sequels etc…
@“dustyd425@yahoo.com” ,
yes, a poor turn of phrase on my part. I agree it is easy to access, it’s just knowing it’s there that’s the hard part. My google search did not uncover it. I still contend that the default behaviour is incorrect and that this preference should be built into the interface somewhere rather than manually changing a program system file that needs to re-done every time there is an upgrade to Plex.
that file will not change when you install an update.
Sort Title appears to be missing now. Any word on how to manually edit this? I have a few tracks that has Sorting Title and it is messing with my alphabetical ordering.
Music tracks have never had a sort title, only albums, movies, tv show and tv episodes do
