As well as using Plex for Tv and Films I am also using it to try and organise personal Photos and video files.
These files are normally shot on the same day/occasion. At the moment I am going through each file individually and adding a custom tag of the date of the event and brief description of it, as currently there are just a massive jumble of video files in the Library View.
I have used folder view, as most of them are in individual folders.
What I am after is a way to select multiple files and then add the same Collection tag to the to save having to go int individual video shots (every stop start in a different file) and add the tag manually?
If you mean within Plex. Select one by clicking on the circle on top left of thumbnail/poster. Select more by clicking on other posters. Or shift+click on the last one in order to select all in a range from the first selected. Then click edit pencil to edit all at once.
Note this does not embed the tag in the actual file it just adds to database.
Also if a field says “mixed” that means the different current entries are different. If you edit it will change and overwrite all of them with what you type in
As long as your files are in mp4 containers, you can add an embedded ‘Album’ metatag into them. As soon as Plex is scanning these files, it will create a collection with the name of the ‘Album’ metatag and place the video(s) into it.
