I would like to put about 100 videos in a collection. Is there a way of tagging many videos at once?

This is a private instructional video series and is not going to be found by any metadata agent, not even the author. I could put metatags in the files in bulk with something like easytag but I am not sure what good that would do for Plex.

I was thinking that perhaps the best way to group these videos was with a collection, and doing so gives me a reason to play with collections. However, I have no intention on setting the metadata through the Plex GUI one at a time for over 100 videos. So… is there a way to add the collection tag, and if possible some related tags to videos in bulk?

I don’t mind editing text files or such if need be since as a software developer and someone who maintains my own servers it’s the sort of thing of which I am familiar.

What about a playlist?

If a play list allows me to visually group them like collections seem to do then great.

However, it still comes down to avoiding adding one at a time, I don’t know if a play list has that advantage, perhaps you do?

Also, I’m using this as a exercise to see the value of a collection so I would like to try to make it work with them, if it proves practical.

When browsing your library in the web browser there is a little circle in the upper left of each poster that appears when you mouse over them.
To tag a bunch of movies click that circle on one movie then any other movie you want to tag just click anywhere on the poster. If you are tagging a bunch of movies that are in a continuous group then you can tag the first one and scroll to the last and hold the control key and click it.

Once you have all the movies you want tagged then click the pencil icon on the upper right of the screen and switch to tags and add the tag you want and then save the result and you are done.

I just did this, it was awesome. I grouped 108 videos in less than a minute. Thanks!
