is there any update on Plex supporting Realtek RTD1296 processors?

Hi, just wondered if there was any update from engineering for supporting the Realtek RTD1296 processor found in the DS218Play

Any updates?

Any annoucements will be made here: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/295969/synology-ds118-ds218-ds218play-ds418j-and-ds418-model-advisory-realtek-cpu#latest

What does Plex require from Synology in order to be able to build a compatible package?

Perhaps if affected users can contact Synology and request that they work with Plex to be able to get it done.
I just bought a DS418 last week and only discovered after setting it up that it doesn’t work with Plex. So rather than try and sell it and buy a DS418play I would rather try and assist with getting Synology to the party to provide Plex with the info/files required…

Thanks trumpy81,
I am not at all concerned about transcoding, I just want to push the files in the format they are stored to the Plex client on the TV. This works perfectly with 4k HDR content via the dumb DLNA client, but I want the rich media experience of Plex.

However I understand that for true Plex server compatibility you need transcode capability.

I am going to try and either return or sell this DS418 and get the DS418play as I can’t live without Plex

Got my DS418play yesterday.
Plex is back baby!!!
Now to try and sell this doorstop of a DS418…first question I get asked when trying to sell it is, ‘Does it support Plex?’…

If it’s still within your return window and you don’t want additional NAS storage… just return it

They want a 30% restocking fee to return it, which I will do if I can’t sell it for a smaller loss.

I would like to invite all Plex Pass holders to visit the Plex Pass Betas area for an announcement about ARMv8 support

Hi, I’m curious if there is any update on this? Currently weighing up the purchase of a ds418 or ds418play
