Is there any way at all to change the arrow keys to skip forward/backward?

Hey all! So, I’ve been using Plex for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. I’ve started doing all of my watching on my PC through Chrome so that my progress is tracked; I really love being able to start watching on any device and not having to find where I’m up to.

The only complaint I have is that using the left arrow key restarts the media and erases where I was up to. I am so used to doing this on literally every media player/web browser that I use on my PC that I keep doing it over and over again. I watch a lot of anime and also have some difficulties concentrating so I find myself needing to go back 5/10 seconds very often. I end up restarting the episode like 5 times or more each episode and it’s driving me crazy!

Surely there is a way to do this, I don’t mind if it’s a plugin, an external program or even a whole new Plex client - I just need this simple feature to be completely happy with Plex. I’m paying for Plex Pass now, but if I can’t set this up somehow I may look for alternatives. It might seem silly to care so much about this tiny missing feature, but it really is ruining my Plex experience…

I hope someone can help me out!

Cheers,
Brad

Stop using the web app and go for the Plex Media Player in ‘full screen mode’.

I agree with Otto… then the left and right arrow skip and the up and down arrow go to beginning/end of the file.

Not necessarily.
For me, the up/down arrow jump 10 minutes back and forth, unless there are chapters present. Then they jump to the next chapter mark.

I am using Plex Media Player but unfortunately it does the exact same thing. Left/right arrows just skip to the previous/next episode and the up/down arrows seem to do absolutely nothing

I wish that this is what it did, that would be damn great!

Mine doesn’t even do 10 minute increments, it just goes straight to the next/previous episode!

I’ve been seriously considering getting a lifetime pass for Plex, but this is one of the only two things preventing me from actually committing…

The other, if you’re curious, is gapless playback on all platforms. I know that it’s gapless on my PC and pretty sure it is on Android as well; the Chromecast, on the other hand, is definitely not gapless. It’s been so long since I’ve hard an album being played and not had gapless playback, to the point that I forgot it was even a thing. I’ve been listening to my Plex music on my Chromecast 2 via Android and it works great, but not having gapless sucks. I know the Chromecast supports it, as both Spotify and Play Music play gapless 100% perfect!

Then you are still in ‘windowed’ mode, which behaves just like the web app.
You must switch to ‘TV’ or ‘fullscreen’ mode.

Oh wow. Thanks! It’s annoying that you have to switch to that interface that’s not as mouse and keyboard friendly, but that will do! Thanks!
