According to this Adding Local Subtitles to Your Media | Plex Support the subtitle language is determined by the 3 letter iso code. For example in Greek there are 2 codes, “ell” and “gre”, but only “gre” is currently supported.
I understand that only the ISO-639-2/B code is supported. In older plex server versions, both the ISO-639-2/B and ISO-639-2/T were supported. Why is that changed?
Hm, it’s been a while I hadn’t update my plex server… I just did it before opening this thread, but I didn’t actually test the behavior…
It seems now (don’t know if it’s due to the new scanners or not) that plex detects both “gre” and “ell” codes as Greek! If what you say that only supported 3 letter code is “gre” (the /B), then “ell” is a side effect (luck as you said) of matching the 2 letter code “el” inside the 3 letter “ell”.
Anyway, thanks for the clarification. I guess, I can explain what is happening now.
