Two or three lang suffix for subtitles?

Server Version#: Version 1.24.5.5173
Player Version#: Version 4.63.0

I wanted to watch some Drake and Josh the other night on my LG webOS TV with Plex (it is the new player type) but as I am hard of hearing I rely on subtitles. I ensured they all had the correct subtitles with the .eng.srt suffix but the player could not find any subtitles. In testing I changed it to .en.srt and they were again listed alongside the media as English External

But after refreshing metadata again and renaming one episode back to .eng.srt they are still detected properly, so what gives?

I noticed my entire library of Married with Children had also downloaded .srt and was not using my local stored .eng.srt files (SubZero seems to save the downloaded subtitles somewhere else, and they are listed the same English (SRT External).

So can I get advise here. I renamed all the srt for Married with Children to .en.srt and they are no longer being seen in the library, but the ones in Drake and Josh are

I always used .eng.srt and that always worked. But right now I am thinking I have installed a bum server update that broke the link.

Plex should support ISO-639-1 (2-letter) and ISO-639-2/B (3-letter) language code standards. Plex will only pick up locally added files after refreshing the metadata of that movie / show.

Yeah, somehow local media assets and Opensubtitles.org got unticked in Agents. When I ticked them and added them back in order it all started working again.

Cheers.
