Server Version#: 1.24.1.4931
Player Version#: 4.59.2 (Bundled) and 4.64.3 (Non-Bundled)
Plex-Pass: False
I have a Linux-Based Cloud Plex Media server. I can successfully stream content from this server via my streaming devices (in my case, several Roku’s and an Android Mobile App). However, I cannot stream nor manage my server from the web client (via app.plex.tv). It shows me a message of ‘Unable to connect to securely.’
Relevant Media Server Configuration Information (Note: Using example IP’s and Ports instead of my real IP’s and Ports)
Remote Access:
- Private: 172.0.0.1 : 32400
- Public: 10.20.30.40: 30000
Network:
- Secure Connections: Preferred
- Preferred network interface: Any
- Strict TLS configuration: Off/Unchecked
- Enable local network discovery (GDM): Off/Unchecked
- Enable Relay: Off/Unchecked
- Custom server access URL: http://10.20.30.40:30000
From the main web client (https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/server//settings/general), i see the error message: ‘app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “” securely’
What i find very odd is that the link at the bottom of this page, named ‘Or you can try to navigate directly to Plex Media Server’, points to the PRIVATE connection details, not the PUBLIC Connection details (i.e. http://172.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html).
I CAN Successfully navigate to the Bundled Web Client (http://10.20.30.40:30000) successfully, and both manage and stream from my media server from there. Also, as previously noted, i can also successfully stream from this media server via the Roku Client and the Android Mobile Client, and when streaming from those clients successfully, i see via my Bundled Dashboard that they are using Direct Play (meaning that on some level, the proper public connection details are being communicated to clients).
I’m happy to provide any additional details upon request. I’m lost as to why i’m having issues navigating to and managing my Plex Server ONLY through the remote Web Client ( 4.64.3 ).
Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide.
