make sure to always completely Stop playback. Which means for the web app, that the lower bar with the player controls needs to be gone completely. Otherwise it’s a perpetual Paused movie.
You close the player bar with the small x on the right end of the bar.

I’ll do it again tonight, but I’m pretty sure I marked it as played on the iOS app from that iPad yesterday night.
I’ll make sure to check that I’m not logged in through any browser on that device.
Just as a general FYI, this is an episode that was synced on this device, I got to halfway through on a plane (disconnected), then finished watching it at home on PMP after syncing the playback status by reconnecting the iPad to the server. The episodes are now deleted from local iPad storage.
