Hopefully this area is ok to post this, I couldn’t determine if it was a Server or client issue.
I have a dedicated plex server, sitting in my garage, and a number of players (Roku, Shield, Android, Desktop, etc.) I’ve noticed over the last few updates that it seems like clients don’t seem to correctly tracked watch status when paused. For example:
I started watching an episode of NCIS Los Angeles last night on my desktop (Plex for Windows version 1.14.0.1340-0acc754c). I got a few minutes into it, and then hit pause, closed Plex, shut down my computer, and went to go watch on the TV in my bedroom (TCL Roku w/ Plex…latest version). I was able to successfully resume the show from where I had paused it, and finished the episode.
When I next log on to my desktop this morning and open Plex for windows, it shows the same episode, sitting at the same point (1 minute in), as if I had never finished watching it. It seems that the client does not retrieve correct status updates from the server? This sometimes happens when I go to watch on the shield as well. The Roku version seems to work consistently, but the android, shield, and windows versions seem to every so often not retrieve the last known position of a video.
This also sometimes manifests as watched status. If I start an episode on one device, and then finish on another, on the finishing device it shows watched, but when I log back in to the original device, or even sometimes another device, it shows unplayed and i have to manually mark it as watched. This is not a new behavior, it has been going on for months.
Any ideas?
