Issue: Subtitles disappear 15-45min after refreshing metadata

Hello, as said in the title I have an issue with plex subtitles.

When I refresh metadata about a movie plex find the subtitles and give me the option to select them.

After 15-45min if I select the same movie the subtitles are no more available and I need to refresh the movie metadata to get them again.

It’s worth mentioning that this problem occur weather I start watching the movie or not. If I start watching the movie at a certain point it cut and subtitles are lost while playing.
This issue affects all movies from my library

I have this file architecture

/movies/WALL·E (2008)/WALL·E 2008 Bluray-1080p.mp4
/movies/WALL·E (2008)/WALL·E 2008 Bluray-1080p.srt

My subtitles are next to my movies.

I have tried to search thread for similar issues but I have not found one specific to my issue.

Yes, same here. Subtitles are a bit of a mess lately. Some subtitles aren’t recognized at all. Others do what you describe: they require a refresh of metadata for them to show up again.

I use Bazarr to manage subtitles and only recently realized that they were no longer showing up in Plex.

I had trouble with subtitles when the new movie agent appeared a couple of months back.

What I ended up having to do was add the lang identifier to the name of all the subtitles.

So …
WALL·E 2008 Bluray-1080p.srt
became
WALL·E 2008 Bluray-1080p.eng.srt

… as an example. Once I done that I ran a scan and analyse which then picked up the subtitles.

I tried naming it like you suggest. “WALL·E 2008 Bluray-1080p.eng.srt”
It didn’t worked out, after 15min subtitles disappeared.
