I’m not sure why, but recently I’ve had issues playing back anything that needs transcoding on some platforms. I was made aware of it by a user who couldn’t play anything with his Fire TV. Anything that needed transcoded would not play.
However, transcoding works just fine on my Pixel 6, on web, and Roku. I tried forcing transcoding with Dizque and it fails.
The log is provided below and it begins at the timestamp of Jan 19, 2022 12:54:19.543
DizqueTV allows you to create “live” tv channels from your Plex media. Essentially, it creates playlists from the media you add to the channel and spoofs an HDHR to add to Live TV.
I understand it is not a supported platform with Plex, but this is the only way I can reproduce the transcoding issue users are getting with their FireTV. I can get the logs from a FireTV later, but I was hoping this could be enough to help.
I backed up my server to an external drive and tried completely removing PMS from my machine. I reinstalled and started a new server and still had this issue. I have tried enabling hardware transcoding. Same thing. I’ve used direct play on DizqueTV and it worked just like it had on the FireTVs. I forced transcoding on my Roku and it worked. I did so on the web app and my phone. It worked. They attempted the FireTV and it didn’t work. It was giving the same error as DizqueTV.
I’m not sure I have any of the logs for the FireTV, but I will work on getting those tonight.
So asking them to lower the quality on a regular playback of a library item does not cause issue?
If not then it would probably beneficial to see playback of the same item via a the regular library item being transcoded and one from this Dizque thing
