Issue with missing codec information

I made a Reddit post detailing the issue here, but the short version is Plex is reprocessing my entire library with FFMPEG to generate codec information even though this data should already exist. I have checked some of the media that has yet to be processed (which at this rate will take days) and it shows as “loading” when all this information used to be accessible from the database.

I have pulled a copy of the database and checked and it shows all bitrate / codec information for all 60k items. So why is Plex hammering the ever loving **** out of my hard drives and regenerating information that has been accessible in the database for years? My PMS folder has also grown about a gig during the scanning process but I haven’t been able to determine where yet.

That’s not much information we can work with. First tell us about your server (e.g. operating system) and the way your media is attached to the server (e.g. network shares). And please always attach the server logs.

Usually, a complete scan is triggered when the storage had been unavailable because of networks issues or a NAS reboot at an inappropriate time, …
