Issue with Pausing

Hi All,

I could usually find a solution for my issues, yet with Reddit being somewhat, “disabled” ATM I am hopeful that someone here can assist.

I’ve recently set up my Plex in a new environment and have started encountering a particular issue that’s making life difficult

I am running inside a VM with a pass-through GPU on the latest linuxserver.io Docker image. Overall, things are working as expected.

My traffic starts at pfSense and then roués to NGINX Proxy Manager. The proxy is set the way I’ve always had it. No configs in the optional areas. I am only using the standard options to force HTTPS on the outside and forward to HTTP on the Plex Docker… I’m also using NAT reflection for my internal traffic.

The issue that I’m now encountering is that if I pause a video for more than a few minutes, it seems to lose the session. It’ll play through the buffer, yet then it stops and requires me login again to restart the stream. As we tend to pause often, this is a really disruptive issue for my household.

I’m thinking there’s one of two areas causing issues.

  1. NPM (Proxy) config.
  2. Firewall config (recently moved from OPNSense to pfSense) OPNSense is great, yet it seems that it’s released too often, and I ran into a ton of bugs.
  3. Plex itself (probably not, config is limited at is the same as I have always had it).

My #1 target is the proxy. I’m assuming I probably need some additional configuration. I’m thinking about moving to HAProxy on the firewall, eliminating the need for NPM, not sure if this will help anything.

If you have any ideas as to what to try, I’d greatly appreciably some guidance!

Thanks,

S

In Server Settings/Network. You will find this setting.

Covered there, I have it set 1200. I don’t mind if sessions idle, yet want to clean them up if they’re forgotten about. So, should be ok with regard to that particular setting.

Clarification, it’s been set that way for over a year with no issues. The problems cropped up maybe a month ago. I didn’t make any specific changes, yet with being a media server there are many moving pieces. I’m going to try a LAN connection and see if it has the same problem. This will take pfSense and the proxy out of the path. I’ll update with my findings.

Thanks!

So your LAN Lease time is set to what value

The server is static, and the clients can, although on DHCP are set for 24 hours. This loss of session happens after I pause for about 30 seconds, consistently. It keeps my place in the media, yet stops playing and makes me reestablish my session (reauth) before it’ll continue to play as soon as the local buffer is drained.

I can watch a movie all the way through, no issues. Just thr pausing is where I have issues.
