I sometimes leave a video on pause to continue seeing it the next day but it sometimes happens that I try to continue viewing the video Plex restarts itself.
It does not show any error messages.
Any ideas why?
The server restarts or the player restarts? I’m guessing the connection to server is lost by player. when you hit play if transcoding it tries to immediately start up and maybe the transcoding segments are no there anymore on server causing some issue. But it probably depends on specifics of your set up like external drives not woken up maybe. Again only random guesses I have not see this before, would probably need logs and know specifics of your setup.
There is a setting for server to sent to player to stop playback if paused too long. I set it to 15 min. Only because I had friends who would leave things paused for an entire weekend and there is no reason to keep my server awake.

The setup is as follows:
1 NAS server for movies and 4 HDDs (inside a Terramaster D4-300) for tv series. they are all connected to and shared by a Mac Mini. The TV in the living room has an Amazon Fire Stick the Plex is installed. This one is the one that restarts. The NAS server does not sleep but I’m not sure about the 4 HDDs.
I tried to look for that server setting you comment but I did not see it, can you please be more specific about it’s settings menu location?

it is in the servers Network settings. it is called “Terminate Sessions Paused for Longer Than”
Ok, I’ve changed it and will tell you what the results were.
