Hi Guys this started this week, I am not able to get my plex to work via Tmobile, if I use a different carrier it works fine.
My page load and show all the movies but when i try to play I get a error, when I use Verizon I do not get that error and its play the movie right away.
If you can change carriers and everything works fine, you really need the loss of connectivity up with them.
Just tried Plex on my T-Mobile (USA) phone. No issues. It sounds like you have an issue with your phone or account…
No problems here as well. Was listening to music for hours yesterday.
I’m having the same problem and so is 2 of my friends who also have T-Mobile.
Not sure what to do here either. I just made a thread about this myself
@evidales check your Settings > Network.
Make sure “Enable server support for IPv6” is checked and secure connections is either “Preferred” or “Required” (I would stick with Preferred).
Let me know if that works for you. It did for me.
So earlier this week I got a new Samsung Galaxy S9. Now, when I’m not on WiFi, I can’t play live tv without it pausing every few seconds and a ‘weak signal’ message appears. It works perfectly on WiFi and recorded shows work perfectly no matter how I am connected. I have restarted my server, my router, and my phone. I compared the APN to my old S7 and other then IPV6, it is identical. Just for fun I created a new APN using IPV4 - same result.
It has to be something with T-Mobile’s network but it makes no sense to me since everything else play perfectly.
Have you tried adjusting the playback quality on your phone? T-Mobile and Verizon have different philosophies/approaches to throttling on their network. T-Mobile will let me stream live TV from Plex at 15-20Mb/s even with Binge On turned on. That might work fine at 3am but during the middle of the day might not be so stable.
In my case everything continues to work perfectly on the new phone except live TV. I can watch recordings and all my other media with no issue. I am at a loss since if it is the network I would think it would behave the same with all media. And if it was the phone it shouldn’t work on WiFi, but it does. I’m not sure how to even trouble shoot this…
Maybe I’ll take both phones into T-Mobile store and do a little demo. Not expecting much but at least someone can verify the issue.
I would speculate that live TV is a much higher bitrate than your other media so I would probably look at the quality settings on your phone as well as the CPU load on your server (It might not be able to handle the level of on-the-fly transcoding required for the quality setting on your phone)

If any of this was true then why did it work on my Samsung S7?
FWIW - The server has plenty of horsepower (i7, kaby lake, intel video assisting), the internet is fast enough to play the recordings as well as full HD movies (even tried UHD but it is kinda pointless on my phone - but it does work).
I did try various settings on the phone and it makes no difference.
