Live TV (on Plex) does not work anymore, unable to watch channels

For some reason, I’m unable to view programs on live TV (On Plex), the channel guide works fine, but when I select a program, all that happens is the player opens, and a rotating (busy) circle appears and stays for hours, I let it run for about an hour and a half, just in case it was downloading first then playing, but it still had the busy icon, it’s the same on every program on every channel, I primarily use Chrome, but I tried it on other browsers too, such as Firefox, Edge, Opera, and Brave, and they all did the same, I even cleared the cache on all the tested browsers, and I even tried it on a friends computer with different WAN, with the same results, I even tried it on my Android tablet running Android 9, and, yep same result.

does your tablet have cellular you can try it on? What ISP do you have?

No cellular on tablet. I just tried it on my wifes cellphone, by disabling WiFi and using mobile data, and chrome for Android, and I still get the same result.

My ISP is Cox Communications, with internet speeds of (in Mb/s) d/l = 150, and u/l = 10.

Might check your server logs and see what the issue may be.

I’m having the same issue. The guide seems to be working fine, but when I click on something to watch I get an error message saying it cannot be played and that I should check my connection. I know it’s not my connection, everything else works.

I’ve tried to watch on several devices (laptop, tablet, phone, and desktop), in both the app and the web player, it doesn’t work on any of them.

if anyone has figured out a fix, please lmk.

@Randall_W After extensive research and even paid a professional tech, it was found to be my ISP, (and later found out the computer I tried it on at a friends house outside my WAN, also had the same ISP), when an ISP updates their systems, it seems to affect other things that did work, and don’t now, but there’s nothing we can do about it, so the pro tech that was helping me sort this out had an idea of using a VPN, he temporarily used his VPN, connected via the same country, IE, without a VPN, my WAN IP points to USA, so he connected his VPN to the USA, and wadd ya know? It worked, now I can watch every channel that Live TV (On Plex) has.

I had to get my own VPN, I won’t put it here, because it’ll be classified as advertising, but use a VPN, connected to the same country your original WAN IP originated from.

I suggest you disconnect the VPN when using Plex to connect to your own Plex server, and only use the VPN for Live TV (On Plex).

@usalabs thank you for the info. Makes sense, I’ll give the VPN a try.
