Issues after removing and installing Plex

Server Version#:1.40.0.7998-c29d4c0c8
Player Version#:

I removed plex from my QNAP and then reinstalled it again.

I get this message when I open Plex
Response code=“503” title=“Maintenance” status=“Plex Media Server is currently running startup maintenance tasks.”

Whenever PMS is performing database maintenance at startup, it will give you this message.

Its purpose is so that nobody panics and thinks the server is having problems.

Engineering did this because some database upgrades require a few minutes to complete.

There’s nothing to worry about. Be patient and it will resolve.
Hit Control-F5 (reload) after a bit and PMS will load normally.

Thank you for the reply. I have actually removed / uninstalled PMS from the QNAP AppCenter since I wanted to rebuild everything but after re-installing using the latest version I got from plex.tv, it keep getting that message. Should there still be database upgrades from a fresh install?

As an additional information, PMS is now removed but when I go to the PMS web https://x.x.x.x:32400/. I still get that same maintenace message.

I stumbled across this article and it seems like I would need to remove data that may not have been removed during the uninstall. Does anyway know how I can do this in QNAP?

  1. When you uninstall using App Center, all the metadata and server info are removed with the package. This is because of how it’s stored on QTS/QuTS

  2. Plex.tv will still need be notified of the uninstall (REMOVE the old instance)

This is the direct URL of “Settings - Authorized Devices - Server”

    https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms

Thank you!
