Issues recording certain channel

Channel number/Name: 686/History Channel

A couple months ago I started having issues where a certain channel has stopped recording through the DVR. I have tried different PMS versions from 1.23.xx all the way through the current. I have also tried a clean install on a fresh Ubuntu install and still had the same issue. Playback of this channel through any app I use works fine. The channel in question is the History channel and the SD and HD channels both have the same issue. Looking at the logs I am seeing a couple different errors and wasn’t able to find much on them.

The log seems to repeat the following three times and then fails due to no available tuners.

Issue happened when trying to record Swamp People on Feb 17th @ 21:48:50

How to report logs.

The Plex Tuner Service is becoming non-responsive. Depending how often this is happening, you could cron a restart for plexmediaserver once per day till they can track down the issue.

This happens whenever I try to record from one specific channel. No other channels seem to be affected. This happens to be the History Channel and I have a “SD” and “HD” channel, with different numbers. Neither channel will record.

Since I have been using linux server I decided to setup a virtual machine running windows 10 with the newest windows version and I get the same results. So fresh install and then installed PMS and that’s it. Log files for this are also attached but to my untrained eye, it appears to do the same thing.

I am wondering if it could have something to do with closed caption or something weird like that because I can tune and watch the channel just fine, but I can’t even record it while I am watching it. Again, just for this one channel.

Since you setup an all new server you eliminated database, scheduling, channel matching and EPG issues.

There is this issue:

Feb 17, 2022 21:48:50.229 [0x7f7b7e086b38] DEBUG - [Grabber/d118cb33c6508be0794df9eafa907d26d3078571] Grabber: checking for 0 MB of available disk space in grab path and 0 MB in the transcode cache path

But it is more concerned that it may be the long standing issue for HD Primes not being able to tune a station. For that I can only ask @sa2000 is this something new or existing?

Those snips from the logfile are from my main server and I have never noticed it saying 0mb/0mb before on that line. I think I accidentally attached the wrong files on my follow up post, meant to attach the ones from the windows based server for comparison.

Well that’s weird that it’s complaining about storage when other programs have been recording fine. I did notice that it will check for tuners and see 3 available and then it tries and fails to use each tuner and fails on tuner 4. The channel tunes just like every other channel with that 2-3 second delay. I can try to record it while watching it and it still fails.

I have created two virtual machines, one running Linux and one windows. I have tried versions 1.21 all the way up to current to no avail. The HDHomerun people are telling me that if it can tune a channel it should be able record the channel. I did try a new cable card and that didn’t seem to help any.

This makes me think it’s something related to the broadcast itself and Plex doesn’t like something about it.

I attached the logs from the new windows instance I setup and I also turned on verbose logging.

Also tried assigning a different channel to actually channel when setting up the DVR to see if it was an issue with the EPG data but that didn’t change anything.
