Please have patience with an old fella (75)!
I am on FreeNAS-11.3-U3.2 and an ‘older’ version of the Plex plug-in. It was working fine until last night when for no obvious reason I suddenly couldn’t contact the Plex server from any clients. The NAS side is working fine. I thought it would be a good idea to update Plex to the latest Plex Pass version for FreeNAS. I ran into some issues (widely documented) with using the built-in Plex updater so I simply uninstalled the old version and installed Version: 1.19.4.2865, Bottom line - I cannot connect to my media. When I select it in the Plex control panel. I can see all the files in the folder, but when I select it; the Library is empty, I have tried all the solutions re permissions suggested here but nothing is working. I am probably doing something stupid - it is a long time since I installed the last version of the Plex server.
A (maybe) related issue - a couple of days ago I changed my Plex password, but it did work fine for about 24 hours with the new one.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thank you so very much for that. Plex emailed me on Saturday suggesting I should update the server on my Freenas machine, and three hours later I was still trying to fix my ruined setup.
Finally I grabbed a drink and sat Googling with my phone, finally alighting on this thread. Your solution appears to have worked perfectly. I am braced for further teething troubles, but at least the complete inability to see any media is fixed. Thank you again!
Hi, some extra info:
Besides the suggestions of adapting the ACL settings to include plex user/group on the media dataset folders, I found another issue. On my system with truenas 12.0, The plex mounts to the datasets didn’t work (not scraping the content) when there where sub datasets!
After mounting all sub datasets individually, it worked!
