Issues with Plex (on Chromecast w/Google TV) transcoding files containing EAC3 audio tracks

Server Version#: 1.30.1.6562
Player Version#: Don’t have access right now, but it’s on the latest update - non-beta channel

Looking to see if anyone help. It seems like every file with an EAC3 track is transcoding to OPUS.

Player: Chromecast w/ Google TV 4K (has support for DD+/EAC3)

App: Plex through the Google Play Store, and I have the HDMI passthrough setting enabled

TV: Sony X900F (has support for DD+/EAC3)

This doesn’t seem to have anything do with the profiles that Plex uses to determine what players can/cannot play, because I had two friends play the same file on their Chromecast w/Google TV 4K and they had different results. One of them direct played, and the other had the same issue as me - audio transcoding to OPUS.

Would love any help I can get here, it’s been driving me crazy.

Just wanted to add that this file (with DTS audio) plays direct without issue on the same player. As do AC3 files.

do you have DD+ enabled in the devices own audio settings?

Whoops!

No, for some reason my supported audio formats was set to Manual on my Chromecast, and after setting it to automatic and double checking that DD+ was enabled, it direct plays perfectly.

Thanks!
