Wondering if you guys are ever going to get around to supporting EAC3 Audio encoding

I’ve been using plex for over 10 years now and still have problems viewing some files. It took be awhile to figure it out but now I know the issue. Its that the Plex app on the chromecast cant play a file that has EAC3 audio encoding. But guess what, thats the most popular audio encoding format. Its so bad now that you can rarely find anything not encoded using that format. It seems a simple fix on your end, just add support for it. Why hasn’t it been done. Its been years!

Please! Just fix it. Just make it work. It is so annoying.

Yes it can and always has. I do it literally every day.

The Chromecast with Google TV only does EAC3 passthough so you need to connect it to a EAC3 capable device like a receiver if your TV cannot and enable HDMI passthrough in the app and those codecs on the devices audio settings if it cannot determine the capabilities of whatever it is connected to. (enabling it if your audio device does not actually support it, will result in no audio or static)

that is not a solution. The solution is coding the chromecast app to play the eac3 codec itself.

Telling me to buy new hardware is not a solution.

Ok then the answer is never to your request
