Issues with split library items and incorrect metadata language

Server Version#: 1.31.2.6739
Player Version#: 4.100.1 (Plex Web)

Yesterday I downloaded a TV Show from a TV-Channels Media Centre and wanted to add this to my library in two languages.

My goal here was to have two separate library items, one in English and the other in German. The show in question is “The Swarm (2023)” or “Der Schwarm (2023)”. I want to do this so that I can specifically share the German Variant with my father.

So, I did what I always did, create the show and season folder and named everything according to the naming convention: /media/tv-shows/The Swarm (2023)/Season 01/The Swarm (2023) - S01E01 - Episode 1 [WEBDL-1080p].mkv

Plex added the files and pulled the metadata for it in English because of how my library is configured. I then added the same show to my library with the german name /media/tv-shows/Der Schwarm (2023)/Season 01/Der Schwarm (2023) - S01E01 [1080p] [ger].mp4

Now, I have one Show with duplicate episodes. Okay, working as expected. But this is where the problems began.

First, I wanted to split them apart to have two Library items in different languages “Der Schwarm” and “The Swarm”. So I go into the merged show and select “Split apart”.

Regardless of which show I select (they are easily identifiable because the English version currently only has 3 episodes and the german version has 6) and say “fix match” they are ALWAYS merged together.

I set and locked the Title, Sort title and original title, renamed them and they are still merged. I cannot for the life of me keep them apart.

And this brought a different problem to the table, I cannot change the language of the metadata anymore.

I removed the german version from my library, cleaned bundles, optimize the database, emptied trash on the library and select “fix match” and search for “The Swarm” language=English, the search result is in English but all metadata is now still in German.

I tried to remove everything from my library and did the plex-dance again but nothing works, it is as I always have the same request cache somewhere but I don’t know where because I have deleted the content in the Plugin-Support → Cache folder but I think this isn’t used anymore by the new metadata agents in plex.

Looking through the logs the selection seems fine but the [HCl#247] HTTP requesting GET and [HttpClient/HCl#247] HTTP/2.0 (0.2s) 200 response from GET both have “Schwarm” instead of “Swarm” being mentioned but I wouldn’t be able to say if that has anything to do with it.

Still, the response is [Req#c0434] Loaded metadata for Der Schwarm (ID 113785) in 6ms which is incorrect, it should be the English version.

I am pretty sure that setting the title of a show to something different would separate the library items from each other even when you did a match. But this doesn’t seem to work anymore?!

So, my questions are: How would I be able to do this? I don’t want to have one Library Item with two multiple versions but rather two separate library items with different languages with them being matched without them being merged. And why do I not get the correct metadata language when using “fix match”?
