we cannot mix WIndows with Linux. It’ll make my eyes gloss over
E5-2630 == has no VAAPI internal. (I have an E5-2690 v4)
– ignore the transcoder error about not finding one.

ok sounds good
one more thing plex is stuck on this
Sonic Analysis:
Processing 0 albums
I can’t help with that unfortunately. I don’t index any music with Plex (I have vinyl here)
Sonic Analysis (music) on Television episodes ?
You’re mixing content libraries ?
I’m confused. Why would there be music processing in video libraries ?
Good question, that’s the only thing i can think of that is making it do that. Unless it’s a glitch.
Explains why I have a ton of Caught exception trying to convert extra data attribute ‘originallyAvailableAt’ with type 1 and value ‘2014-11-03’ ~ bad lexical cast: source type value could not be interpreted as target
When’s the last you reviewed the directory list for each library section?
Then , how about a find -type search to look for symlinks which could be causing it to divert.
Never, but I don’t use symlinks
Also, I only have Movies & TV shows no music
something caused it to get into music mode. Is the activity confined to a specific section?
If it is? Try creating a new section (test section) scanning the same media files. Make certain to NOT include content from other libraries) . See what result you get
Finished processing movies and TV shows is what it’s doing
I’ll wait for this to finish processing and report back
So that problem went away musta been a glitch, Only one problem remains. On my PC when I try to transcode a movie on plex app on Windows and Chrome browser on local network I get [Transcode] [FFMPEG] - Failed to initialise VAAPI connection: -1 (unknown libva error). still… But no such errors on smart TV and android app
You wil ALWAYS get this “error”. It’s not a real error.
You are seeing the transcoder probing the hardware capabilities as it starts. It does this on every playback.
Your CPU does not support VAAPI because there is no Quick Sync Video (QSV) capability in it.
You do have a Nvidia GPU card.
The transcoder’s logic is to:
TL;DR ?
It’s not an error – It’s just messiness
My friend’s Samsung TV un65mu8000 “Up to date” got those VAAPI errors on my plex console it would not play a movie. I optimized the movie just for the fun of it, and it worked with the new version, so what gives?
Original file info
Updated version
I have a LG 65NANO90UPA I am able to watch the original file with transcoding but those vappi things show up on console but doesn’t fail to play … Very weird…
Turn off the HW Assisted Acceleration as it doesn’t apply to your processor and the errors will go away.
Unless you have a newer xeon with the capability, you have to slug through it brute force or use a Nvidia GPU card.
May I see the DEBUG ZIP file which captures that playback attempt?
I can look and see why it did what it did.
