I have been running plex for a while now with 1 person added to the server. when it went to a pay service i subbed. Recently I added 2 other people and for both of them they can SEE everything on my server but when they try and watch it asks them for a plex pass sub. This has never happened to person number 1.
Weirdly, one of the new people was able to watch a single show. everything else asked her to pay.
Did you purchase a Remote Watch Pass or a Plex Pass? You do not have “Plex Pass” by your forum username, so it appears you purchased a Remote Watch Pass.
If you purchased a Plex Pass, then anyone can stream from your server for free.
If you purchased a Remote Watch Pass, then only you can stream from your server for free. Anyone else must purchase their own Remote Watch Pass or Plex Pass.
Note that these new rules apply only to the new Plex Experience apps, currently Apple and Android mobile.
Other platforms, Smart TV, Android TV, Plex Web, etc., still operate under the “old rules” and do not require a Plex Pass or Remote Watch Pass to stream from your server. However, this will change at some point as those apps are updated. No release date has been announced, but the new Roku and AppleTV apps are already in beta. When released, the “new rules” will apply to them the same as the current mobile apps.
