Italic Subtitles (or nonstandard subs) having issues on Chromecast for Google TV

Running into a problem in the last few weeks with Plex not displaying Italic subtitles, or sometimes subtitles that display on multiple parts of the screen (two people talking at the same time) but only on Chromecast with Google TV. If i load these same video from the same server on my phone (andoid) it all works perfectly, same with the windows client. If i actually take the android client and cast it to the same tv, the subtitles work fine. But if i use the same phone and instead of ‘casting’ use the ‘connect’ thing to use the phone to control the tv, they disappear again.

I found a couple threads from a bit ago where people said it showed up but then disappeared, but my issue persists. Both the chromecast and the plex app on it are fully up to date. And the chromecast is hard networked so no issues there.

Any ideas?

Still looking for help on this, pretty frustrating with some things like anime subtitles. If anyone has any info at all to direct me.

Experiencing same issue on two Google TV with Chromecast devices.
Super annoying that it’s not getting a fix for ~2 months now.
