Items being deleted when metadata being downloaded

I’ve run in to an odd problem with PLEX. I’ve added a bunch of items but they keep being deleted when the metadata is being downloaded. Not all, but some.

Does anybody have any clue as to what might be going on? I’ve tried looking for the PMS log file but I can’t seem to find it to even check it. Is it a hidden file by chance?

Beginning with Plex Media Server version 1.1.0 and newer, it is simple to quickly gather your server logs.

Go to Settings > Server > Help in Plex Web App
Click the Download Logs button
Save the resulting zip file

Your question is a little vague as PMS did not delete files without you explicitly telling it to. What you may be seeing is the scanner adding the file, then the fact matching the new items to existing items so these new posters get remove since they after merged with another. You’re logs should show this if that is the case.

Sorry if the question was a bit vague. The files are added but then are deleted once the meta data gets downloaded. That’s what I can’t figure out.

I’ll take a look at the log files and see if that provides any clues. Thanks for the link to them as well! I couldn’t figure out where they were.

I’ve just had the same problem occur and hopefully I can explain it a little better this time. I’m also attaching the logs as I looked at them but have no clue as to what I’m actually looking for.

The problem is that I can load files in to a plex folder and they show up. However, when the metadata is downloaded, said files are removed from the list. I don’t know if it’s because of bad metadata or what. The files are still on my computer but won’t stay listed in the plex folder.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as it’s never happened with anything before.

In additional to the naming mentioned above by Peter_W, you have your TV shows in a movie library. These files will never match that way and won’t show up. Please separate out your movie from your TV Shows and create separate Plex libraries.
